In 2023, a severe fire caused extensive damage to the indoor areas and kitchen at Porthpean Activity Centre. Allsop & Pitts were brought in by The Mace Group to provide a full design and pricing proposal for the replacement of the kitchen facilities. The original setup was entirely gas-based, but our team proposed a more sustainable, efficient all-electric solution, outlining the long-term advantages in terms of safety, performance, and energy use.
Once awarded the project and in partnership with TEC Construction, we engaged directly with the end users to ensure the new kitchen layout and equipment would meet their operational needs. With the centre aiming to increase the number of children attending, it was crucial that the design supported higher capacity and future growth. Our collaborative approach ensured all equipment choices aligned with the centre’s evolving goals.
Working closely with TEC and multiple other trades, Allsop & Pitts managed the supply and coordination of catering and extraction equipment within a tight project timeline. Thanks to careful planning and seamless communication across all teams, the installation was completed on schedule. Allowing the centre to reopen and welcome visitors in time for Summer 2024.
